Brennan Reid
Playwright, Lyricist, Actor

Hello
My name is Brennan Reid, I was born and raised in the Blue Ridge, a small sect of the incredible Appalachians Mountains. Though I am now a city dweller, my inspiration for rhythmic and poetic writing stems from my birthplace. My life has been a weird one... From seeing ghosts, to receiving death threats, to starting my own business working for the elites of NYC. I've continually battled with my own consciousness of what it means to be alive, what it means to be an empathetic human, and what it means to be privileged. These inner dialogues always lead me to writing... to creating.
In my writing, these existential themes are the crux of my work. Whether these themes are brought about through characters, or through the plot of the show they will be there as an overshadowing presence. I like to believe these themes give my audiences something to ponder over. Whether they come across my work through viewing, listening, or reading, I wish for my writing to surpass that brief moment they're engaged, and lead to introspective discussions. I find these nuanced conversations do not stem from giving my opinion, but rather they're rooted in the ideology of perspective. The more one sees, the more one understands, the more one discusses (hopefully.).

Discussions are what I strive to create. Knowledge is key when it comes to discussions. Most of my work sits in historical time periods, not only because history is supposedly laid in fact, but due to the abysmal repetition it so easily falls into, or should I say "we" so easily fall into. These historical settings for my plays therefore add to the nuanced elements of combining the past with the present, fact with fiction, and right with wrong.

Currently, I am working on a musical, a full length play, and submitting my other work to as many competitions, festivals, and producers as I can. I am also following my entrepreneurial aspirations as an owner of a Professional Organizing company (Aristotle Organizing Inc), Amazon store, Etsy Store, and more. My ultimate goal is to become financially independent so that I can work on the art and plays that bring thoughts to what was once thoughtless.
